How can I journal myself better?

How can I journal myself better?

Everyone has the mentality that they need to get better now that the new year has begun. It's time to make some changes for the better, whether that means reevaluating your health priorities, getting started on that project you've been putting off for so long, or devoting more time to taking care of yourself in some other way.

What should I journal daily?

At Rustico, we are all about continuously developing, and using your journal is one of the best ways to keep track of your development and make improvements to yourself. As you get started on your new year's resolutions, put some of these suggestions into practice and see how they can assist you in accomplishing your objectives.

1. Jot down your objectives on paper.

Putting your objectives down on paper will make it easier for you to attain them, as has been stated numerous times, but this adage couldn't be more accurate. When you put your thoughts on paper, you give them substance and you make a commitment to yourself (and to your diary) that you will put effort into achieving your goals. Be sure to develop goals that are "SMART," which stands for specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound, while you are at it.

2. Make keeping a journal one of your primary objectives.

Writing in a diary has several advantages, including the enhancement of one's creativity, the development of greater self-discipline, and the enhancement of one's general state of health, in addition to its ability to assist one in the accomplishment of goals. Make it a daily habit to start putting down your thoughts as one of your goals.

3. Start a thankfulness notebook.

Keeping a gratitude journal in which you record one thing each day for which you are thankful can enhance your life in a variety of ways. Among these include reduced levels of tension, relaxation during the night, greater concentration, and heightened awareness of oneself. How do you do it? Get yourself a fresh diary, keep it next to your bed, and make it a habit to spend fifteen minutes writing in it each and every night. Your entries can be in the form of lists, paragraphs, or even pictures; the only requirement is that they demonstrate what it is that you are thankful for on that particular day. Check out our Gratitude Journal for something more structured if that's what you're looking for.

4. Exercise your creative side more.

Make use of your diary as a place to doodle ideas, experiment with different watercolor techniques, and create visual mementos of that incredible vacation. Every once in a while, we all need a creative outlet, and if writing about your experiences isn't your thing, you should try to find some other way to express them. The practice of keeping a creative notebook has recently gained popularity and can be an excellent means of relieving stress.

5. Keep tabs on your advancement.

Check in with your objectives once a month or once a week and make a note of how you are progressing toward achieving them. Create an action plan consisting of smaller actions that you need to complete in order to reach your larger goals. This plan can take the form of a checklist, a graph, or anything else that will help you stay on track. Return to it frequently, jot down the things you've achieved, and reflect on the significance of what those accomplishments meant to you. Keep getting better.

If you are having trouble remembering to maintain your new habit of writing and goal-setting, you can download our 365 Days of Writing Prompts to provide you with something to write about each and every day. This will help you stay on track with your new routine. Cheers to the new year!
